Salmon Recovery Efforts

The recovery of Idaho’s salmon populations will not only have a positive environmental impact for Idaho, but an economic one as well, and I am not opposed to continued research to assess the best options available to do this.  However, while I am willing to listen to all sides on this debate and consider all options, I am not convinced that breaching the four dams on the lower Snake River will guarantee salmon recovery, and doing so could have a negative impact on Idaho’s economy.

While I am concerned about efforts to authorize the Army Corps of Engineers to breach these dams, I believe it is valuable to analysis federal salmon recovery efforts and use sound, unbiased science to determine the causes of the dangerous drops in salmon populations and the most effective and economically sound methods for recovering them.
