July is National Parks month. Growing up in Yellowstone’s backyard, I was afforded the opportunity to enjoy our nation’s first national park. I feel it is important to pay it forward to future visitors that deserve the same quality experience as past generations. The Great American Outdoors Act would do just that, and as a lead sponsor, I look forward to the House passing this bill and sending it the President's desk.
The level of partisanship that the Democrats have inserted into the appropriations process is incredibly disappointing. Republicans were ready and willing to come to the table, to work together, and we were left completely out of the process. It’s time to get off our partisan high horses and put the American people first.
You can watch my remarks in the House Appropriation Committee below.
I applaud President Trump and Secretary Bernhardt for distributing PILT payments for fiscal year 2020. During these unprecedented times, it is a testament to their prioritization of rural communities. As a member of the House Interior Appropriations subcommittee, and former chairman, I have made securing PILT funding my top priority and will continue to advocate for fully funding PILT so they can be fairly compensated for their inability to collect property taxes on federal lands.
On July 1st USMCA went into full effect. This 21st century trade agreement is a victory for Idaho's farmers and ranchers.
Science should be transparent and I don’t understand how Democrats could oppose a rule that is designed to make science publicly available so we can better understand how and why they create rules and regulations. Watch my comments to learn more.
Thanks to the great efforts of INL and BLM firefighters, the Telegraph fire was quickly and safety contained. It's important to me that these organizations have the necessary resources to successfully fight these dangerous fires.
