It was a great week back in Idaho's Second District! A special highlight from this week was meeting with Simplot employees in Boise to discuss current topics in DC. Later in the week, I received a tour of the Simplot Plant in Pocatello!

Also, this week, my office announced the nomination of 19 Idaho students to United States Military Academies. Every year, Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five service academies. You can read more about this process below.

Simplot Plant Tour

It was great to tour the Don Simplot Plant in Pocatello and discuss the importance of phosphate fertilizers for agriculture and food security.

As Chairman of the Interior and Environment Appropriations Committee, I'm working to make sure the Department of Interior understands the significance of Southeast Idaho's phosphate reserves.

2024 Service Academy Nominations

One of the greatest honors of my job is to nominate students in Idaho’s Second District to become the next generation of military leaders.

United States Military Academies provide students with a great opportunity to serve our nation while pursuing a higher education. I admire these bright young Idahoans' willingness to serve, and I look forward to seeing their continued achievements in their future endeavors.

Appropriations 101

I appreciate you keeping up with my "What's Happening in Washington" videos. I hope they are helpful! Since the recent talk in Washington has been around government funding, I thought it would be beneficial to explain the Appropriations process in greater detail.

Throughout the next few weeks, I will be diving deeper into the Appropriations process and explaining how it works, why we do it, and even talk about some keywords. I hope you'll follow along.
