The Simpson Standard

February 18th, 2024

Dear [salutation],

First and foremost, Kathy and I extend our deepest condolences to the families of the five fallen heroes who lost their lives in the recent helicopter crash in California. Captain Benjamin Moulton of Emmett was among those killed in the tragic accident. My prayers are with Benjamin's loved ones and all the families of those lost.

To honor these brave men, my colleagues and I held a moment of silence for these American heroes this week.

The House brought two articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for willfully and systemically refusing to comply with federal immigration laws and breach of the public trust. I voted YES on impeaching Secretary Mayorkas. You can read my full statement below.

Since President Biden took office, he has waged an unprecedented war on American energy. His anti-energy policies have caused prices to rise and have empowered our adversaries. President Biden's decision to ban Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) exports is his latest attack on the energy industry. That's why, this week, the House voted on legislation that would immediately reverse this ban on American LNG exports, helping unleash American energy dominance.

Honoring the Five Fallen Heroes

I was honored to join a moment of silence for the five fallen heroes who lost their lives in the recent helicopter crash. Their service and commitment to our country will never be forgotten. May they rest in peace.

Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas

The House of Representatives voted to impeach DHS Secretary Mayorkas for willfully and systemically refusing to comply with federal immigration laws. I voted YES on this resolution. After a nearly year-long investigation, the House took decisive action and held Secretary Mayorkas accountable.

My full statement is below.

Unleashing American Energy

This week, the House voted on the Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act. This bill lifts all restrictions on the import and export of natural gas, with strong protections to prohibit trade with a person or foreign country under sanction or listed as a state sponsor of terrorism. I proudly voted YES on this legislation.

Restoring LNG exports will:

✅ Strengthen the economy

✅ Further United States leadership in reducing emissions

✅ Increase the energy security of the United States and our allies
