Dear Idahoan,
Let me be clear - I do not support a government shutdown. When Congress fails to pass annual appropriations bills and the government shuts down, we lose momentum in getting federal spending under control and critical opportunities to change the direction of our country's public policy.
Government shutdowns are never good politics or policy, and it is a failure of responsibility to govern that hurts Idahoans, harms our nation in the short term, and fails to put us on a more sustainable long-term path to financial stability.
House Republicans are working to find a path forward that reduces federal spending, secures the border, and provides an opportunity to finish the appropriations process as soon as possible. That said, I want to hear from you -
