Congressman Simpson's Weekly Recap

August 27th, 2023

Dear [salutation],

Community Project Funding (CPF) plays an important role in providing critical support for Idaho's Second Congressional District. It's my responsibility to advocate for Idaho’s priorities within a responsible federal budget. No federal bureaucrat in Washington, D.C., knows Idaho the way you and I do, and leaving all budget decisions to federal agencies would be a failure of my responsibility to communities across our state.

What is more, it wouldn’t reduce the federal budget by a single penny. As your representative in Congress, I will continue to fight for impactful, important Idaho projects within a responsible federal budget any day.

This week, I traveled across ID-02 and visited numerous CPF sites. Check them out below!

Updating the Water System in Pocatello

I joined Pocatello City Mayor Brian Blad, Public Works Director Jeff Mansfield and Water Pollution Control Superintendent Levi Adams to tour the Johnny Creek area.

I recently secured critical State and Tribal Assistance Grants (STAG) through Community Project Funding to assist the Johnny Creek neighborhood transition to a new, modern municipal sewer system.

STAG appropriations for our local communities are a great way to produce results in a meaningful way!

Reconstructing Eagle Road in Fort Hall

I had the privilege of meeting with the Fort Hall Business Council and visiting Eagle Road.

It was great talking with the reconstruction staff and seeing the blueprint firsthand. Reconstructing this road is essential for improving the safety and economic development of the Fort Hall Reservation. I'm proud to support this project!

Building a New Fire Station in Firth

Thanks to swift responses and diligent work, Shelley-Firth firefighters serve and protect our communities every day. Firefighters in this fire district provide critical help to residents, and it's unfair they don't have the adequate resources they need.

I visited the former Firth Fire Station site to discuss my recent Community Project Funding request to construct a new fire station. Funding something as important as saving lives is essential.
