As a lifelong Idahoan and Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, I have worked long and hard to protect Idahoans’ way of life by preserving access to Idaho’s public lands while ensuring the federal land management agencies are good neighbors. I look forward to continuing this work in this new role. Also, this week, I was proud to join a bipartisan group of members of Congress to reintroduce a bill to address the agriculture workforce crisis. The Farm Workforce Modernization Act would make meaningful reforms to the H-2A visa program and establish a strong, legal immigration workforce for agricultural producers. Dear [salutation],

“Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother.” Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible moms out there! Your love, strength, and endless support make the world a better place.

Appropriations season is kicking off! It was great to hear from Department of Energy Secretary Wright earlier this week as he testified before the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee. I had the opportunity to ask Secretary Wright directly about the future of nuclear energy under the Trump administration.

It was great joining the Launch of the Bipartisan Public Lands Caucus this week, a caucus where I was recently named Vice Chair.

Appropriations Hearing with Secretary Wright

Earlier this week, Secretary Wright thoroughly answered my questions in a House Appropriations hearing regarding the Idaho National Lab and the future of nuclear energy under the Trump administration.

As a longtime member and former Chairman of the House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee, I look forward to working with Secretary Wright and the Trump administration to UNLEASH domestic energy, ENHANCE our nation's energy security, and RESTORE American energy dominance.

Keeping Public Lands in Public Hands

Idahoans live in Idaho because we love our public lands. One of my top priorities is preserving access to our public lands and defending our way of life.

Being named Vice Chair of the Public Lands Caucus is an honor. I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure future generations can enjoy the same benefits that we do today.

Farm Workforce Modernization Act

The workforce crisis is the most important issue facing agriculture in our country. Supporting American agriculture means providing a stable, reliable, and legal workforce, and this legislative solution addresses one of the most pressing concerns our farmers and ranchers face.

Now that we finally have an administration taking the border crisis seriously, Congress must address this issue and enact necessary reforms. I look forward to getting this critical legislation across the finish line to President Trump's desk for his signature. Read more about this legislation here.
