Floor Schedule | Committee Activity The Simpson StandardNovember 16th, 2025 Dear [salutation], GREAT NEWS: The Schumer Shutdown is OVER. I was thrilled to help bring this completely avoidable 43-day government shutdown to an end. Make no mistake, this should have never happened. The Left deliberately shut down the government. And for what? They accepted the very same bipartisan deal that had been on the table from the start. Government shutdowns are bad politics and policy, and they HURT the American people. My full statement is below.  As Idaho's only appropriator, it is my great honor to fight for Idaho’s priorities and ensure Idahoans’ hard-earned tax dollars return to Idaho. I have the unique opportunity to do this through Community Project Funding, as I serve on the House Appropriations Committee. The clean funding extension that was signed into law earlier this week included three full-year appropriations bills covering the Legislative Branch, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Food and Drug Administration. Four of the community funding projects that I fought for were included in the Agriculture Appropriations Bill. I'm excited to highlight two of these projects in this week's Simpson Standard, and stay tuned for next week's as well. 😁

Dear [salutation],

GREAT NEWS: The Schumer Shutdown is OVER. I was thrilled to help bring this completely avoidable 43-day government shutdown to an end. Make no mistake, this should have never happened. The Left deliberately shut down the government. And for what? They accepted the very same bipartisan deal that had been on the table from the start. As Idaho's only appropriator, it is my great honor to fight for Idaho’s priorities and ensure Idahoans’ hard-earned tax dollars return to Idaho. I have the unique opportunity to do this through Community Project Funding, as I serve on the House Appropriations Committee.

Voting to End the Schumer Shutdown

Securing Funding for CAFE

Throughout my time in Congress, I have proudly worked to ensure that Idaho's agriculture can continue to thrive. Like many Idaho agriculture sectors, the dairy industry plays a significant role in our state's economy.

Securing funding for this world-class research center is crucial for promoting long-term sustainability in Idaho's agriculture industry. I am committed to supporting Idaho's dairy industry and ensuring our tax dollars are being put to work right here at home.

Securing Funding for Bingham Groundwater District

During this pivotal time for water resources in Idaho, I am proud to support the Bingham Groundwater District's initiative to implement a comprehensive groundwater conservation project.

This project will significantly benefit Idaho's agriculture community and help guide sustainable water use and aquifer recharge efforts. Ensuring a reliable water supply is critical at this time for the social and economic stability of the Bingham County community, and funding this project will support long-term water sustainability for years to come.
