Dear [salutation],
GREAT NEWS: The Schumer Shutdown is OVER. I was thrilled to help bring this completely avoidable 43-day government shutdown to an end. Make no mistake, this should have never happened. The Left deliberately shut down the government. And for what? They accepted the very same bipartisan deal that had been on the table from the start. Government shutdowns are bad politics and policy, and they HURT the American people. My full statement is below.
As Idaho's only appropriator, it is my great honor to fight for Idaho’s priorities and ensure Idahoans’ hard-earned tax dollars return to Idaho. I have the unique opportunity to do this through Community Project Funding, as I serve on the House Appropriations Committee.
The clean funding extension that was signed into law earlier this week included three full-year appropriations bills covering the Legislative Branch, Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Food and Drug Administration. Four of the community funding projects that I fought for were included in the Agriculture Appropriations Bill. I'm excited to highlight two of these projects in this week's Simpson Standard, and stay tuned for next week's as well. 😁
