Simpson Tells Treasury to Abandon IRS Monitoring Proposal

This week, I joined 201 of my House colleagues in expressing serious concern to Treasury Secretary Yellen over the proposal to mandate and expand financial data collection on the American public.

The Biden Administration's latest proposal to require this level of monitoring and reporting by financial institutions is absolutely absurd. This is clearly a violation of individual privacy, not to mention a hugely inappropriate government overreach.

Many Idahoans have reached out to my office to express strong opposition to this proposal. This will undoubtedly bloat the size of the IRS and increase federal bureaucracy. The Biden Administration needs to recognize that this is not what the American people need or want and remove this policy from consideration immediately.

Biden Reinstates Crucial Border Policy

In the last week, the Biden Administration announced that it had plans to reimplement the "Remain in Mexico" immigration policy established by President Trump.

This policy allows border agents to better manage the flow of migrants coming to our southern border - a crucial change at a time where 1.2 million illegal immigrants have been apprehended by border police since February.

Since first being elected to Congress, I have been an advocate for reforming our broken immigration system that has failed U.S. citizens and those who wish to enter the country legally. Reinstating the "Remain in Mexico" policy is a good place to start for significant change.
