Rep. Simpson Cosponsors Bring Our Heroes Home Act

WASHINGTON— Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson cosponsored H.R. 3110 – Bring Our Heroes Home Act. This legislation aims to eliminate obstacles preventing families and caseworkers from accessing the records needed for recovering America’s Prisoners of War (POWs) and Missing in Action (MIA) service members.

“Idaho families, and families nationwide, should not have to deal with the federal government's bureaucratic red tape to learn information about their loved ones who are unaccounted for,” said Rep. Simpson. “America’s service members have sacrificed their lives for our freedom, and we owe the families of these heroes answers. I am honored to cosponsor this important piece of legislation.”

The Bring Our Heroes Home Act consolidates all records within a newly instituted Missing Armed Forces Personnel Records Collection within the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and requires the expeditious transmission and public disclosure of Missing Armed Forces Personnel records to this newly created office. More than 81,500 Americans – including 361 Idahoans – remain unaccounted for from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Gulf Wars, and other conflicts.

This bipartisan legislation is led by Congressmen Chris Pappas (D-NH) and Russ Fulcher (R-ID).
