Rep. Simpson Cosponsors Resolution Standing with Israel

WASHINGTON— Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson cosponsored H.Res. 768 - Standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists. This bipartisan resolution - introduced by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Ranking Member Gregory W. Meeks (D-NY) - expresses support for Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists and condemns Hamas’ brutal war against Israel.

“Hamas is beheading babies, kidnapping children, raping women, and savagely murdering civilians,” said Rep. Simpson, an original cosponsor of the resolution. “The brutality we have witnessed over the last few days is nothing short of evil. Israel is our nation's strongest ally in the Middle East. The United States must stand with the Israeli people during this time and condemn these horrific, barbaric attacks. I am proud to stand with Israel and cosponsor this resolution.”

“Now is the time to show the world the United States firmly stands with our friend and ally Israel in our condemnation of this heinous attack by Iran-backed terrorists,” said Chairman McCaul. “I expect this bipartisan resolution to be one of the first, if not the first items considered on the floor once we elect a new Speaker. And I expect it to receive overwhelming bipartisan support.”

“President Biden has committed the United States fully to Israel’s self defense,” said Ranking Member Meeks. “Israel is responding to the Hamas terror organization’s unprecedented attack. The bipartisan resolution will demonstrate this is one issue in which the US House of Representatives is united, and I expect it to pass the House with broad bipartisan support.”

More than 380 Representatives have joined this resolution. The full text can be found here
