On Monday, the House passed a Motion to Go to Conference on H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, by a vote of 222 to 192.  On Wednesday, the House voted to table H. Res. 646, a resolution Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, of high misdemeanors, by a vote of 364 to 58.  The House also passed H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, by a vote of 231 to 198.  The bill allows people with a state issued concealed carry license or permit, or individuals who are citizens of states that do not require a permit to carry a concealed firearm, to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that allows concealed carry, as long as the individual follows the laws of that state.  On Thursday, the House passed H.J. Res. 123, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2018, by a vote of 235 to 193.  The short term continuing resolution extends government funding by two weeks, from December 8 to December 22, and allows the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to give states that are running short on Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funds the ability to use other sources of available funds to ensure the CHIP program operates through the end of the calendar year (December 31).  Congressman Simpson supported all of these bills.
