Last week the House passed H.R. 3823, the Disaster Tax Relief and Airport and Airway Extension Act of 2017.  The bill reauthorizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for six months, provides certain tax cuts and tax benefits for victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, and reauthorizes certain expiring health programs. On Tuesday, the House passed H.R. 2824, the Increasing Opportunity and Success for Children and Parents through Evidence-Based Home Visiting Act, by a vote of 214 to 209.  The bill reauthorizes the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV), and improves the program by making sure states continue to demonstrate progress in preventing child abuse, improving newborn health, and reducing crime and domestic violence. The House also passed H.R. 2792, the Control Unlawful Fugitive Felons Act of 2017, by a vote of 244 to 171.   The bill prohibits individuals subject to an outstanding arrest warrant for a felony from receiving Supplemental Security Income Payments.  Congressman Simpson supported all three bills.
