Floor Schedule | Committee Activity The Simpson StandardJune 30th, 2024 Dear [salutation],It has been a busy week here in DC—especially for the House Appropriations Committee. This week, the House passed three more Fiscal Year 2025 Appropriations bills that strengthen our national security, increasing the safety and security of the American people.  Additionally, the Appropriations Committee is continuing to move bills through regular order. This week, five subcommittees—including the subcommittee I chair— marked up their Fiscal Year 2025 bills. You can expect to see these bills move through the Full Appropriations Committee and eventually make their way to the House floor like the three we voted on this week. I always take time around the Fourth of July to honor the sacrifices and service of our nation's troops and veterans. The Simpson Standard

June 30th, 2024

Dear [salutation],

It has been a busy week here in DC—especially for the House Appropriations Committee.

Simply put, America wouldn't exist or be what it is today without those who risked their lives for the greater good. Check out my latest op-ed below on honoring our troops and veterans.

Strengthening Our National Security

I was pleased to vote in favor of three critical Fiscal Year 2025 Appropriations bills this week. You can learn more about these bills in my What's Happening in Washington video here.

The House PASSED the:

✅FY25 Homeland Security Appropriations Act

  • This legislation secures our southern border by providing robust funding for our border patrol agents, removes dangerous criminals, counters China, and bolsters national security.

✅FY25 Defense Appropriations Act

  • This legislation supports servicemembers and their families and targets funding to counter China and near-peer adversaries. This bill ensures the delivery of combat-ready forces to deter war and ensure national security.

✅FY25 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Act

  • This legislation supports our allies and targets our enemies in a fiscally responsible manner. This bill also prohibits funding for organizations that do not support U.S. interests, including the ICC and the United Nations Relief Works Agency.

Appropriations UPDATE

This week, the Appropriations Subcommittee I chair—Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies—marked up the Fiscal Year 2025 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. I am proud this bill champions numerous Idaho priorities and protects important programs that states and local communities rely on. I look forward to this bill getting across the finish line.

The FY25 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act:

✅Limits job killing regulations by the EPA

✅Expands access to critical materials

✅Supports farmers and ranchers

Honoring Our Troops and Veterans

Since coming to Congress, I have prioritized working for our brave men and women in uniform and those who have served our country. Some of my proudest work has been supporting our military and veterans, providing reals solutions to their challenges, and ensuring they have the resources they need.

I consider it my duty to support our troops and ensure our veterans receive the care they have earned after serving our country. I was proud to vote in favor of two pieces of legislation this month reaffirming that commitment. Read the full op-ed here.
