Floor Schedule | Committee Activity The Simpson StandardApril 13th, 2025 Dear [salutation], Earlier this week, I sent out a survey with a simple question: should only American citizens vote in American elections? More than 76% said yes—a clear message that Idahoans care about election integrity and support securing federal elections. I am pleased to announce that the House passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a bill to block illegal immigrants and noncitizens from voting in federal elections. Read my full statement below.  Another critical issue that has gained much attention is activist district judges issuing nationwide injunctions, which have halted the implementation of executive orders and policies far beyond the scope of the parties involved in a particular case. In fact, 67% of ALL federal injunctions in the last 100 YEARS were against President Trump, with 92% of those issued by Democrat-appointed judges. That number is out of control! That's why, this week, the House passed a bill to limit the judicial overreach of partisan federal judges and restore constitutional balance within our judicial system.  Also, this week, the House voted to advance the next step in the reconciliation process. As a reminder, this vote gets the House to the drafting stage. The budget resolution does not become law, as it's not signed by the President. However, the budget resolution sets spending and revenue targets. You can learn more about this process in my latest What's Happening in Washington video.

Dear [salutation],

Earlier this week, I sent out a survey with a simple question: should only American citizens vote in American elections? More than 76% said yes—a clear message that Idahoans care about election integrity and support securing federal elections. I am pleased to announce that the House passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a bill to block illegal immigrants and noncitizens from voting in federal elections. Voting to Restrict Non-Citizens from voting in U.S. Elections

Over the last four years, the American people watched President Biden and Vice President Harris welcome millions of illegal immigrants into our country. Due to these failed open border policies, Congress must take decisive action to safeguard the integrity of our elections by verifying United States citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections.

Voting to Limit Judicial Activism in Federal Courts

Legislating from the bench and judge shopping have weaponized our judicial system, and limiting the power of district judges to impose nationwide injunctions is a common-sense solution to combat this problem. The United States Constitution gives Congress the authority to regulate the jurisdiction of federal courts.

Passing the No Rogue Rulings Act is a critical step forward in returning district courts to their appropriate roles and restoring constitutional balance within our judicial system. Read more about this legislation here.

Voting to Advance the Budget Resolution

I was proud to vote yes on passing the budget resolution earlier this week because this resolution keeps President Trump's agenda moving forward.

We are working to deliver one big, beautiful bill that will include historic savings like preventing the largest tax hike in American history and protecting essential programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
