Appropriations season is in full swing! From advancing the Fiscal Year 2026 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill from the Subcommittee to the Full Committee, advancing the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill from the Full Committee to the House floor, and passing the Defense Appropriations Bill on the House floor, the House Appropriations Committee was busy this week!

I'm here to break it all down. As Chairman of the Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, I was pleased to see the FY26 measure advance. More to come on this legislation as it reaches the Full Appropriations Committee. But as a longtime member and former Chairman of the House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, I was proud to vote to advance the FY26 bill to the next step, and look forward to it crossing the finish line.

As promised, I mentioned last week that I recently cosponsored a resolution solemnly marking the one-year anniversary of the attempted assassination of President Trump. As we know, last Sunday marked one year since that tragic day. I am proud to be an original cosponsor of this important resolution. You can read more below.

Securing INL Priorities

The Idaho National Laboratory is a world leader in nuclear energy research and a hub for remarkable advancements in nuclear technologies. INL has long worked to advance America’s nuclear technology and strengthen our national security, and I have been proud to support their efforts in Congress.

I am confident that the future of nuclear energy is bright under President Trump and Secretary Wright. As a longtime member and former Chairman of this critical subcommittee, I am pleased to see this legislation expand America’s nuclear capabilities and address the future of nuclear energy. Investing in America's Military Superiority

The FY26 Defense Appropriations Bill champions America’s military superiority, supports military families, strengthens America’s defense, and supports the Trump administration’s policy initiatives.

Congress has remained committed to strengthening and modernizing our military by providing the brave men and women in uniform with the necessary resources to carry out their mission. I am pleased that this legislation reaffirms that promise, and I was proud to support its passage. Read more here.

America's Figher

July 13th, 2024, was a day that we thought would unify us Americans and stand together to condemn political violence. Unfortunately, from that day forward, we have continued to see hateful and evil rhetoric that has further incited political violence. There is no room for this violence in our country, and we must condemn it in all forms, regardless of political affiliation.

President Trump demonstrated leadership and heroism on that solemn day. God bless him, God bless Corey Comperatore’s family, and God bless the Secret Service and law enforcement who selflessly threw themselves in harm’s way to protect the President.
