Rep. Simpson Votes to Invest in America’s Military Superiority

WASHINGTON—Today, the United States House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Appropriations Bill. Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson–Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee–supported this advancement. This bill champions America’s military superiority, supports military families, strengthens America’s defense, and supports the Trump administration’s policy initiatives.

“Bolstering America’s national security, restoring combat readiness, and supporting our military families is what delivering the America-First defense agenda looks like,” said Rep. Simpson. “Congress has remained committed to strengthening and modernizing our military by providing the brave men and women in uniform with the necessary resources to carry out their mission. I am pleased that this legislation reaffirms that promise, and I was proud to support its passage.”

Highlights of the bill include:

  • Continues historic pay increases enacted in Fiscal Year 2025 for junior enlisted servicemembers.
  • Invests in military families’ quality of life, readiness, and continuity for servicemembers.
  • Protects America’s border from threats.
  • Combats international actors who facilitate drug trafficking and manufacturing.
  • Aligns with President Trump’s Executive Orders on no funds for DEI.

The measure was approved with a vote of 221-209. This funding package will now go to the Senate for further consideration.
