Leaked SCOTUS Draft Opinion

Throughout my time in Congress, I have considered it one of my most important responsibilities to protect the God-given right to life by supporting life-affirming federal policies. My record speaks for itself: I have an A rating from the National Right to Life Association during every Congress that I have been elected. Just this past January I also received an A+ rating from the Susan B. Anthony List.

At a time when the pro-life message of hope is being questioned within the halls of Congress, this mission is more important than ever.

Simpson Joins Colleagues Rejecting Ministry of Truth

Americans should recognize Biden's "Disinformation Governance Board" for what it is: an authoritarian power grab by Democrats who want to tell us how to think.

President Joe Biden needs to worry less about putting the government in charge of the 'truth' and get to work on solutions to the very real problems that are facing our country -- problems his Administration helped create.

This week I signed on to a letter demanding more information from DHS Secretary Mayorkas. This Disinformation Governance Board has no clear plan of action and Congress must conduct the necessary oversight to protect our First Amendment rights.

In addition, I cosponsored H.R. 7641, the Protecting Free Speech Act, which would prevent taxpayer funds from being used to potentially restrict the constitutional right of free speech.

Support Local Gems 2022

Today, May 6th, marks the 3rd annual "Support Local Gems" initiative. This initiative allows us the opportunity to pay special attention to the important role local businesses play in our communities.

Idaho's small businesses have shown immense resilience in the face of many challenges, including labor shortages, supply chain disruptions, and rising costs due to Bidenflation. Idaho’s small businesses epitomize what makes the Gem State special, and they deserve our support.

We Must Always Protect the Second Amendment

Anti-gun movements have come and gone, but the need to preserve the right to own firearms is as evergreen as the day I took office.  That is why I continue to push back on dangerous and misguided attempts to curb gun ownership in Congress.

From reclassifying gun kits, to cementing gun registries, and denying suppressor applications made by lawful gun owners, it is clear that the Biden Administration’s back-door gun control strategy is picking up steam.  That is why I sent a letter to the ATF demanding they stop efforts to curtail fundamental Second Amendment rights.

In addition, I have cosponsored several bills that protect gun ownership:

  • H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2021. This bill would provide law-abiding citizens the right to conceal carry and travel freely between states.
  • H.R. 3101, the Repealing Illegal Freedom and Liberty Excises (RIFLE) Act. This bill would remove the excise tax on the transfer of firearms.

Simpson Shows Support for Critical Rural Utility Services

This week, I signed on as a cosponsor to H.R. 2244, the Flexible Financing for Rural America Act. This legislation would allow rural electric cooperatives and rural broadband providers the ability to refinance their Rural Utilities Service debt at lower interest rates.

Many Idahoans rely heavily on rural electric cooperatives and rural broadband providers to deliver electricity and internet to their homes. Allowing these utility service providers to refinance their federal loans will give them the flexibility they need to reinvest in Idaho’s rural communities.  I am proud to support this bipartisan, commonsense legislation that will give providers the ability to continue supporting and serving our most rural communities.

In the District

I had the privilege of meeting with several officers from the Twin Falls Police Department. Despite activist pressure to 'defund the police' in 2020, Republicans have always believed that law enforcement agencies need more resources, not less. I will continue to use my seat in Congress to support our law enforcement.

On Thursday, I was able to meet with Business Plus and the Idaho Dairymen's Association. We had a great discussion about my support for Ag immigration workforce reform and other federal resources for the talent pipeline.
