Simpson Sponsors National Health Care Decisions Day
Washington,
April 16, 2008
Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson cosponsored H.Con.Res. 323, expressing Congressional support for the goals and ideals of National Health Care Decisions Day on April 16. This resolution encourages all Americans to take the time to discuss these important medical decisions with their loved ones. National Health Care Decisions Day will raise awareness about the importance of advance directives. Whether these guidelines are made through preparation of a living will or designation of a medical power of attorney, are crucial in conveying end-of-life medical wishes in the event an individual is incapable of communicating them. The resolution will also provide information to the public for example: how to designate a medical power of attorney. Executing these documents would authorize the appointed agent to make health care decisions on an individual’s behalf if they are unable to do so for themselves.
