Simpson Announces High School Art Contest Winner and Cancels Reception

 

                                                                                                        


Idaho Falls, ID – Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson announced the scheduled reception planned for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho has been cancelled out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of the public. The reception was planned for this evening and all participants have been notified by Congressman Simpson’s office.     

Elijah Jones of Rigby High School is this year’s winner for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition in Idaho’s second Congressional District with his piece titled “The Work is Done.”  The grand-prize winner from Idaho was selected by a panel of artists from the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, in consultation with Congressman Simpson. This year’s theme was My Idahome – 130 years of Statehood. Over 70 students from across the Idaho’s Second Congressional District submitted artwork which is exhibited in the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho.

Congressman Simpson looks forward to meeting with Elijah and his family later this summer. Jones work is pictured below along with other entries on display for the contest.
