Rep. Simpson Announces D.C. and District Staff Changes

WASHINGTON— Today, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson announced two changes in the D.C. and District office staff. The office welcomes Lexi Hamel as the new Press Secretary and McKenzie Johnson as a new Field Representative and Caseworker in the Boise District Office.

“We are excited to have Lexi and McKenzie join our staff,” said Rep. Simpson. “I’ve always been proud of my staff, and our Team has worked hard to represent Idahoans well. I am confident that Lexi and McKenzie will succeed in their new roles as we continue to build on our record of results for Idaho’s Second District.”

Lexi Hamel was born and raised in St. George, Utah, and attended Southern Utah University (SUU) from 2018-2022. During her time at SUU, Hamel competed as a Division I athlete for the women’s golf team and graduated with degrees in Political Science and Communication. Hamel previously served in the office of Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) as a Press Assistant and Legislative Correspondent. Hamel is pursuing her master’s degree in professional communication and looks forward to amplifying Rep. Simpson’s voice to Idaho’s Second Congressional District and the nation.

McKenzie Johnson, an Idaho native, grew up in Bonners Ferry. Johnson then attended the University of Idaho, where she served as student body president and graduated with degrees in Economics and Political Science. Johnson previously served in the office of Idaho's Governor, Brad Little, for four years advising on policy matters, assisting with legislative efforts, coordinating meetings and events, and engaging with constituents, state agencies, and community leaders. Johnson looks forward to her continued work with Idahoans in her new role.
