Rep. Simpson Cosponsors the SECURE Act

WASHINGTON— Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson cosponsored H.R. 5415 – the Safeguarding Endangered Children, Unaccompanied and at Risk of Exploitation (SECURE) Act of 2023. This legislation requires the Biden administration to locate the 85,000 unaccompanied migrant children it has lost contact with within the United States.

“No matter what the Biden administration says, the border is not secure,” said Rep. Simpson, an original cosponsor of the bill. “Tens of thousands of unaccompanied children have been jeopardized for exploitation, abuse, and human trafficking. This administration needs to be held responsible for their failed border policies, and the SECURE Act is a necessary step to ensure that accountability.”

The SECURE Act is led by Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ), who has authored five laws to combat human trafficking, including the nation’s landmark Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000.

“The Biden Administration must be held accountable for its failed open border policies that have put tens of thousands of children in grave danger and at great risk of death, child sexual exploitation and abuse,” said Rep. Smith.
