Rep. Simpson Signs Letter Urging Biden to End LNG Pause

WASHINGTON— This week, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson signed a letter urging President Biden to end the recently announced pause in Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) exports. This letter is led by Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, and signed by more than 150 House Republicans.

“President Biden's decision to ‘temporarily pause’ pending approvals of LNG export terminals will destroy American jobs, jeopardize American energy production, and force American allies to rely on our adversaries,” said Rep. Simpson. “America’s LNG is cleaner, more reliable, and strengthens our economy. President Biden’s decision is a tremendous mistake, and I strongly urge this administration to reverse course.”

As a longtime member of the House Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, Rep. Simpson has advocated for United States energy production and independence. This Congress, Rep. Simpson voted in favor of H.R.1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, and signed a bicameral letter to bring cleaner, more affordable energy to the Northwest. Most recently, Rep. Simpson spoke before the House Rules Committee and expressed concern with the Biden administration’s energy policies.
