WASHINGTON—Today, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson supported a Congressional Resolution honoring the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk. This resolution is sponsored by Speaker Mike Johnson. “One week ago, Charlie Kirk’s life was taken far too soon by an evil and hateful individual,” said Rep. Simpson, an original cosponsor. “The horrific murder sent shockwaves and devastation throughout our nation, and while I have been extremely disgusted to see some of the celebratory reactions online, I am even more encouraged to see Charlie’s legacy and work live on through patriotic Americans. As we continue to mourn his loss and pray for his loved ones, Americans can take comfort in knowing his life will never be forgotten and his memory will continue to inspire future generations to come.” Charlie Kirk was 31 years old. He is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two young children. Since Charlie’s tragic passing, there have been more than 37,000 new chapter applications for Turning Point USA. In addition to cosponsoring Speaker Johnson’s resolution, Rep. Simpson also cosponsored Congresswoman Mary Miller’s (R-IL) resolution condemning the assassination and honoring the life of Charlie Kirk. Fifty-eight Democrats voted against the resolution.
