Rep. Simpson Votes to Support President Trump’s Peace through Strength Agenda in NDAA

WASHINGTON— This week, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson voted in favor of H.R. 3838 – the Streamlining Procurement for Effective Execution and Delivery and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026. The FY26 NDAA authorizes full funding for America’s national defense, improves servicemember quality of life, enhances military readiness, and supports the Trump administration’s policy initiatives.

“The National Defense Authorization Act is one of the most important bills Congress votes on each year,” said Rep. Simpson. “From supporting our troops and their families to protecting our homeland from adversarial threats, the NDAA is critical to strengthening our military and deterring our enemies. After Congress and President Trump made historic investments in our national defense earlier this year, I am pleased that the NDAA builds on the strong commitments of the Trump administration's policy goals to support our troops and implement a peace through strength agenda.”

Highlights of the bill include:

  • Authorizes $892.6 billion for national defense discretionary programs, matching President Trump’s budget request.
  • Builds on the FY25 NDAA to improve servicemember quality of life, including supporting the Trump Administration’s 3.8% pay raise for all servicemembers and reauthorizing and expanding military bonuses and special pay.
  • Codifies all or part of 15 executive orders and 30 legislative provisions requested by the Trump Administration, including the entirety of the administration’s efforts to end left-wing ideology, wokeism, and DEI in the military.
  • Authorizes full funding for National Guard and active-duty support to Border Patrol at the southwest border.
  • Counters threats to our national security from state sponsors of terror, foreign terrorist organizations, and other adversaries.
  • Saves taxpayers over $20 billion, including $15 billion in DOGE-initiated savings assumed in President Trump’s budget request.

The FY26 NDAA was approved with a vote of 231-196.
