WASHINGTON—Today, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26 NDAA). This legislation authorizes full funding for America’s national defense, improves servicemember quality of life, enhances military readiness, and supports the Trump Administration’s policy initiatives.

“Passing the National Defense Authorization Act means that we are one step closer to beginning to deliver results for American troops and their families,” said Rep. Simpson. “The NDAA is a must-pass bill that promotes peace through strength policies, supports our men and women in uniform, and strengthens our national defense. Idaho is home to Gowen Field and Mountain Home Air Force Base, hosting thousands of servicemembers. Supporting our troops and investing in our national defense remain among my top priorities in Congress. I am pleased to see the NDAA do just that while building on the strong commitments of the Trump Administration’s policy goals.”

Highlights of the bill include:

• Builds on the FY25 NDAA to improve servicemember quality of life, including supporting the Trump Administration’s 3.8% pay raise for all servicemembers and reauthorizing and expanding military bonuses and special pay.
• Codifies all or part of 15 executive orders and 30 legislative provisions requested by the Trump Administration, including the administration’s efforts to end left-wing ideology, wokeism, and DEI in the military.
• Authorizes full funding for National Guard and active-duty support to Border Patrol at the southwest border.
• Counters threats to our national security from state sponsors of terror, foreign terrorist organizations, and other adversaries.
• Saves taxpayers over $20 billion, including $15 billion in DOGE-initiated savings assumed in President Trump’s budget request.

The FY26 NDAA was approved with a vote of 312-112.
