Simpson Statement on President Biden’s FY24 Budget Proposal Washington, D.C. – Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson today released the following statement in response to President Biden’s FY24 budget proposal: “Today in Philadelphia, President Biden proudly lauded his budget proposal to cut the federal deficit by nearly $3 trillion over the next decade. What he failed to acknowledge was just how much he and his Democrat colleagues in Congress have contributed to that deficit with reckless, inflationary spending, and that interest payments on the debt alone are expected to surpass $10 trillion in that same period,” said Simpson. “Make no mistake—President Biden remains completely out of touch with what will truly help American families, businesses, and the economy at large. The answers will not be found in more taxes and budget gimmicks, but in a comprehensive plan that addresses the true drivers of our debt. As Chairman of the House Appropriations Interior and Environment Subcommittee, I remain committed to crafting a responsible budget that successfully meets America’s needs and contributes to the long-term health of our economy.” ### |
