WASHINGTON— Today, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson voted in favor of H.R. 3898 - the Promoting Efficient Review for Modern Infrastructure Today (PERMIT) Act. This legislation cuts red tape, reduces costly project delays and litigation, and makes permitting under the Clean Water Act (CWA) more efficient, consistent, and transparent. The PERMIT Act is a package of 17 bills aimed at reforming permitting processes. This legislation is sponsored by Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA).

“Permitting reform is one of the most consequential actions Congress and the Trump Administration can take to unleash American energy and drive down costs,” said Rep. Simpson. “Republicans promised to provide regulatory certainty for farmers, energy producers, builders, and Americans nationwide. Cutting red tape and enacting commonsense permitting reform is the first step toward delivering that certainty. I have long supported streamlining the permitting process by making these reforms, and I’m confident that today’s passage of the PERMIT Act is a step in the right direction.”

The PERMIT Act passed with a vote of 221-205. Rep. Simpson was a cosponsor of this legislation.
